Although the corporate colour is blue, Waterloo Ford Lincoln is decidedly 'green' thanks to innovative operational efforts and an environmentally-friendly building.
Waterloo Ford Lincoln celebrated the grand opening of its new dealership on October 27, 2011. When the doors to the facility opened, they marked a new era for Waterloo, committed to greater environmental stewardship in its business operations.
"Ford Motor Company is all about innovation, green technology and sustainable practices," said Mr. Purvis, President and CEO of Waterloo Ford Lincoln. "Our new dealership reflects these same principles by using products and incorporating practices that reduce our impact on the environment."
Waterloo Ford Lincoln has eliminated all bottled water and styrofoam cups from the dealership and replaced them with bio-degradable cups, added recycling stations throughout the dealership and implemented an 'eco-option' for customers who prefer to all communication via e-mail rather than paper.
The dealership purchases automotive fluids (such as oil, antifreeze) in bulk and sends all used fluids to a recycling company. Similarly, tires, batteries, oil filters and auto parts are sent to approved recyclers where all reusable parts are removed and recycled.
The new showroom is now powered by BullFrog power: a Canadian company that uses electricity exclusively from regionally sourced wind and hydro facilities certified as low impact by Environment Canada. Waterloo Ford Lincoln's customer courtesy shuttle services are carbon-neutral, thanks to an agreement with Carbonzero, which provides quality carbon offsets to help companies reduce their carbon emissions.
The new showroom uses a roofing system that reflects the sun's rays during warm days. Programmable heating and cooling thermostats and centrally-located air-handling units are also featured.
Waterloo Ford Lincoln is a Green Certified Business,
designated by the Green Business Bureau, and a member of the Recycle Council of
Alberta.
Carbon offsetting projects try to reduce the impact of activities that produce carbon by doing other things that are beneficial, such as planting trees. Just one more way in which Waterloo Ford Lincoln is doing what it can for our environment.
